Testimonials

I attended the West Island 2SLGBTQ+ center as a participant from age of 13. My time as a participant has been crucial to my mental health as a queer and trans teen. The staff are warm, friendly and communicative, and have always shown genuine care for all participants. The content of discussions is appropriately regulated, allowing for participants to discuss with one another important, relevant topics, while remaining aware of sensitive topics that may upset some. Conversations are also well guided by the knowledgeable and well-spoken staff who know how to respectfully and kindly educate participants when needed.
I made some very close friends through the center's programs, and I have emotionally benefited hugely from interacting with queer adults as a scared youth - I would be far, far less confident about my future had I no queer role models. When I am at the center, I feel safe, respected and supported.

We humbly and gratefully acknowledge that we are gathered on the unceded territory of the Kanien’kehà:Ka (Mohawk) people. This land has historically served as a meeting place for many Indigenous nations, including the Haudenosaunee and the Anishinaabe, and is currently home to Indigenous communities from across Turtle Island and the world.
