West Island Pride Coordinator​

As a contract under the Canada Summer Jobs program, this contract is designed to provide young workers (ages 15 to 30) with quality employment opportunities, where candidates can gain valuable work experience and develop transferable skills, for future employment.
As such, only applicants between the ages of 15 and 30 will be considered.

Contract Details

Temporary Full-Time (with possibility of extension)
9 week contract (June 2nd, 2025 - August 1st, 2025)
$18.00/hour
30 hours/week

Skill Requirements

  1. Fluently bilingual (French/English); written, spoken, and comprehension.
  2. Strong verbal and written communication (example. Phone calls, meetings, and presentations)
  3. Computer proficiency (office suite, Canva, etc.)
  4. Ability to work autonomously and complete tasks in a timely manner.

Job Specifics

​Specifically, the position of Coordinator has these key responsibilities:
  1. Event Programming,
  2. Communications and Advertisement,
  3. Coordination and Reporting,
  4. Budgeting and Procurement. ​

Responsibility:
​Event Programming

  1. Development of programming.
  2. Coordinate with the City to ensure compliance with required by-laws.
  3. Coordinate with speakers and invited guests for the mainstage.
  4. Coordinate services for the events, such as transportation for invited guests, catering, signage, displays, translation, special needs requirements, audio-visual equipment, printing and security.
  5. Assist in managing and supporting the organizations and vendors attending the community market.

Responsibility: 
Communications and Advertisement

  1. Respond to phone calls, emails, social media messages and other forms of correspondence regarding West Island Pride.
  2. Manage the contact lists and key invitation lists.
  3. Sending invitations and follow ups to key entities and individuals.
  4. Prepare messaging surrounding West Island Pride.
  5. Preparing content for social media and the Website.
  6. Managing social media content related to West Island Pride.
  7. Managing press lists, communications, and media requests.

Responsibility:
Coordination and Reporting

  1. To schedule Planning Team meetings and assist in managing these meetings.
  2. Plan the schedule of events for the mainstage in collaboration with the Planning Team.
  3. Coordinate pre-event meetings with the West Island Pride 2025 Planning Team.
  4. Assist in the Design, creation and updating of relevant documents.
  5. Assist in the drafting of end-of-event reporting. 

​Responsibility:
Budgetting and Procurement

  1. Apply for sponsorships and grants, and solicit donations for West Island Pride.
  2. Update the event budget and maintain a detailed record of incomes and expenses.
  3. Build and maintain a database/contact list of suppliers, vendors, organizations, volunteers, etc.
  4. Assist in researching, connecting with, receiving quotes from, and negotiating contracts with suppliers.
